  Hello Lincoln Families, Here's what is happening this next week: Reading: Next week and after spring break we will continue to focus on reading strategies to find text structures like compare & contrast, cause & effect in different texts in non-fiction texts. Writing: After Spring Break the writing focus will shift. Students will use research from their historical event to write a 5 paragraph informational essay with a thesis statement and other important elements. Students will experience more of the writing process. This will take a few weeks to publish into a Google Slide. Math: We will take the Unit test on Partial Quotients and multiplication strategies for long division along with multiplying a whole number by a fraction, and finding acute, right, and obtuse angles. Please continue to encourage your child to practice multiplication/division facts at home with flashcards, IXL, etc. for extra practice.   Hello Lincoln Families, Here's what is happening this next week: Reading: Over the next few weeks the reading focus will be incorporated into the social studies curriculum using books on historical events mentioned below. We will use these historical events and read alouds to teach different reading strategies to find text structures like compare & contrast, cause & effect in different texts. Writing: This next week we are learning more about how to use figurative language in our writing like metaphors, similes, hyperbole, and idioms. They are working on developing a writing piece during Writers Workshop. Also, at Daily 5, students will be working on research for their historical event. Math: Students are learning Partial Quotients and multiplication strategies for long division. Over the next week, we will continue practicing and reviewing finding quotients with remainders up to 4-digit dividends, multi-step word problems to interpret remainders, multiplying a whole ...

Hello Lincoln Families, Just a couple reminders: Report cards went home on Wednesday this week. Please make sure you go over it with your child to not only celebrate their successes but set some goal(s). Also, if you could sign and return the yellow envelope that would be great! Monday there is NO school for students because of professional development for teachers. Next, Friday, March 19th is also a 1/2 day because teachers are getting the second vaccination. Have a terrific weekend! Hello Lincoln Families,   Our class was able to do March Madness reading activities put together by Mrs. Bacolor on Friday at our class Read-In along with reading their own personal collection of favorite books. It was a wonderful morning! Report cards will go home this week.  Remember the goal is to have all standards on the report card in the 3 range by the end of 4th grade. So, if your child falls below that range, we will continue to work on those area(s). Also, the multistep word problem standard on the report card for this trimester only includes: adding, subtracting, multiplication, and NOT division. Division for multistep word problems will be reported in the last trimester.  I need to address a situation that happened this week during our Media Center time.
