Hello Lincoln Families,

Here's what is happening this next week:

Reading: Over the next few weeks the reading focus will be incorporated into the social studies curriculum using books on historical events mentioned below. We will use these historical events and read alouds to teach different reading strategies to find text structures like compare & contrast, cause & effect in different texts.

Writing: This next week we are learning more about how to use figurative language in our writing like metaphors, similes, hyperbole, and idioms. They are working on developing a writing piece during Writers Workshop. Also, at Daily 5, students will be working on research for their historical event.

Math: Students are learning Partial Quotients and multiplication strategies for long division. Over the next week, we will continue practicing and reviewing finding quotients with remainders up to 4-digit dividends, multi-step word problems to interpret remainders, multiplying a whole number by a fraction, and measuring acute, right, and obtuse angles. The last week before Spring Break students will take the Unit test. Please continue to encourage your child to practice multiplication/division facts at home with flashcards, IXL, etc. for extra practice. Students can continue to practice IXL Diagnostic and now Khan Mappers for extra yards.

Science: Energizing Everything: This week's focus is on energy transfer and engineering.

Social Studies: We will continue researching historical events like the Underground Railroad, Dust Bowl, and Orphan Trains.

Positivity Project: This week's focus is Identifying the Good in Others.

School Reminders:

Every Monday is Positivity Day: Students wear P2 T-Shirt
