Dear Lincoln Families,

We have some exciting activities for our Lincoln 4th graders coming up over the next few weeks! This year we will be able to go to Kiwanis Park! We will eat at our regular lunchtime and then walk down. However, just as a reminder unfortunately parents/adults will not be able to join us this year. We still have to follow Covid protocols. In addition, as a result of not being able to go to the Capital/Museum, our students will be able to watch a Zoom tour of the Capital. This will be on June 8th. Afterward, we will have a hot dog picnic. We are excited to be able to enjoy some end of the year activities even if it looks a little untraditional:)


Here's what is happening this next week: 

Reading: Students will finish the year in a Book Club. Each student has been given a chapter book to dig deeper into a conversation using key details, vocabulary, special passages with figurative language, and writing summaries.

Writing: Students will be working on writing poetry. We will be working on writing Diamante poems. These are diamond-shaped poems using parts of speech. We finished our Haiku poems! They are hanging on our "Poetree" in the hallway. Our poets will celebrate at Author's Chair!

Math: I posted in GC review videos for essential standards. These should help with any extra practice in school and at home. We will continue this week at WINN time reteaching and reviewing for those students who need it as well as extend learning for students using the essential standards. Please continue to encourage your child to practice multiplication/division facts at home with flashcards, IXL, etc. for extra practice. Students can continue to practice IXL Diagnostic and now Khan Mappers for extra yards.

Science: This week we will review Energizing Everything and take the Google Form test from Mystery Science this week.

Social Studies: We are finishing our SS units with developing a deeper understanding of the three branches of the city, state, and federal government

Positivity Project: This week's focus: Review Teamwork

  Hello Lincoln Families, Testing for NWEA will begin Monday, April 26th in the morning. We will be testing students in reading and math.  It may take a few days to finish as a class. This week we will discuss fall and winter data and grade-level goals. Once students are finished with the NWEA, we will gather the data and adjust individual learning goals and use them along with essential standard data/goals to finish out the 4th-grade year. This is a very crucial time of year. This last trimester is going fast! There is much work that needs to be done in order to finalize 4th-grade goals to get students prepared for 5th grade. Please try your best to have your child in school. If you can schedule doctor appointments after 3:15, it would be most beneficial to your child. I don't want anyone to lose valuable lesson time.   Hello Families,      We are wrapping up the Trimester this week. Report cards will go home next week. It was exciting getting the Chromebooks last week and it will be much easier to push out assignments through Google Classroom now. Last week we worked diligently on more technology training with the new Chromebooks.  We reviewed how to take care of the devices, Digital Citizenship, how to comprise an email, and Google Classroom. If you have time and have any questions please review the  SJPS Digital Passport  (click link). This is also in Google Classroom in the topic Technology Support for students as well. We also signed up for Khan Mappers which allows math practice on 4th grade standards based off of their NWEA math score. I also went over some more programs we will use on a regular basis for face-to-face or remote learning.
