 Hello Lincoln Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful break! I can't believe we only have a little over two months left of school. Remember to have Chromebooks charged and packed for school Monday morning. Also, Monday is "Positivity Day". Students are encouraged to wear their P2 T-shirts. Have a great week!

Here's what is happening this next week:

Reading: Students will use CLOSE reading and annotations skills to dig deep and analyze non-fictional texts. In addition, students will use the notes and reading strategies to find text structures like compare/contrast, cause/effect, and problem/solution.

Writing: Students will continue to research their historical events to write a 5 paragraph informational essay with a thesis statement and other important elements. Students will experience more of the writing process. This will take a few weeks to publish into a Google Slide. Once the essay is finished they will prepare a Powtoon, Screencastify, or WeVideo presentation.

Math: This week's focus will be to multiply fractions by whole & mixed numbers including multi-step word problems Please continue to encourage your child to practice multiplication/division facts at home with flashcards, IXL, etc. for extra practice. Students can continue to practice IXL Diagnostic and now Khan Mappers for extra yards.

Science: We are halfway through Energizing Everything Unit. This week we will be exploring, "Can you build a chain reaction machine?"

Social Studies: We will continue researching historical events like the Underground Railroad, Dust Bowl, and Orphan Trains. The information they gather will be integrated, like the aforementioned, and finalized with a presentation of WeVideo, etc.

Positivity Project: This week's focus is Fairness. Fairness is when all people have value. You approach situations with an unbiased mindset and treat everyone with respect.

       Here's what is happening this next week: Just an FYI:  The testing window of NWEA and M-Step has slowed some lessons down over the last couple of weeks. Testing does interrupt our schedule. This is why some things on the agenda below have been there for a bit. I just wanted to clarify:) Thanks for your understanding! Reading: Students will finish the year in a Book Club.   Hello Lincoln Families, Testing for NWEA will begin Monday, April 26th in the morning. We will be testing students in reading and math.  It may take a few days to finish as a class. This week we will discuss fall and winter data and grade-level goals. Once students are finished with the NWEA, we will gather the data and adjust individual learning goals and use them along with essential standard data/goals to finish out the 4th-grade year. This is a very crucial time of year. This last trimester is going fast! There is much work that needs to be done in order to finalize 4th-grade goals to get students prepared for 5th grade. Please try your best to have your child in school. If you can schedule doctor appointments after 3:15, it would be most beneficial to your child. I don't want anyone to lose valuable lesson time.   Hello Families,      We are wrapping up the Trimester this week. Report cards will go home next week. It was exciting getting the Chromebooks last week and it will be much easier to push out assignments through Google Classroom now. Last week we worked diligently on more technology training with the new Chromebooks.  We reviewed how to take care of the devices, Digital Citizenship, how to comprise an email, and Google Classroom. If you have time and have any questions please review the  SJPS Digital Passport  (click link). This is also in Google Classroom in the topic Technology Support for students as well. We also signed up for Khan Mappers which allows math practice on 4th grade standards based off of their NWEA math score. I also went over some more programs we will use on a regular basis for face-to-face or remote learning.
