Hello Families,

Our 4th graders continue doing an excellent job bringing their Chromebooks to school charged. Just a reminder to continue to make sure every night it is charging and before school, your child leaves each morning with the Chromebook in his/her backpack. Thank you for your support.

On Friday the 18th, we will have a holiday party with snacks and a movie.  If you are interested in sending something in please email me. Some suggestions could be something sweet, healthy, or juice. Thank you so much!

Just a reminder Monday is Positivity day! Students are encouraged to wear their positivity T-shirts. Have a terrific week:)

Here's what is going on in the classroom:

Reading:  We will continue this week working on strategies for making comparisons and contrasts in the text along with another text of a similar topic using Jan Richardson's yellow questioning strategies.

Writing: We are working on beginning the five-paragraph writing process in opinion/persuasive writing. This week's focus is on writing the introduction paragraph including the opinion statement and developing three reasons. This is a long process that will continue through January.

Math:  We will continue this week our study with equivalent fractions and begin lessons on comparing and ordering. I posted some helpful videos on Google Classroom.  I continue to encourage 4th graders to practice multiplication facts at home with flashcards, IXL, etc. for extra practice. Students can continue to practice IXL Diagnostic and now Khan Mappers.

Science: Students took The Birth of Rocks Unit test last week. We will focus on Social Studies this week and begin with Science after the holiday break in January. The new unit will be the Human Machine.

Social Studies: This week's lessons will be a focus on Levels of Government and Core Values.

Positivity Project: This week's focus is on Self Control.
